Llama balloon | Plastic Nature XVI

Year:

A white, balloon-like llama stands serenely among agave plants, with gray Andean mountains in the background. This medium-format work captures the majesty of the Andes and the characteristic elegance of the llamas, emblematic animals of the mountain range.

The llama is rendered in silvery-white tones with metallic reflections that create volume and texture, transforming its woolly coat into a gleaming, plastic-like surface. The contrast between the luminous white of the animal and the bluish-grays of the mountains generates a composition of cool tones that convey the atmosphere of high Andean altitude.

The agave plants in the foreground, painted in deep greens with blues, anchor the composition and create depth. The elongated vertical format accentuates the characteristic verticality of both the llamas and the mountainous landscape.

This piece explores a high-mountain ecosystem, where the air is pure

but increasingly threatened by plastic waste, even at the most remote altitudes. The llama, a sacred animal in Andean cultures and a symbol of

resistance, appears here as a silent witness to the invasion of plastic

in ecosystems that once seemed unreachable.
