The work
This piece combines the elegance of black and white graphic design with a story imbued with visual poetry. In the center of the work, a chess rook stands atop steps, surveying the landscape. Beside it, a fallen tower lies covered in sand, while to the left stretches an esplanade filled with thousands of chess pieces.
The work is delivered with a handwritten poem at the bottom:
"In battle,
I get up
|alone|."
