About the Series

The acrylic series "Plastic Nature" creates bright, saturated, and realistic environments where imaginary animal figures with disproportionate volumes retain the identity of their nature.

Each work is a meticulous study of a real animal, later transformed into a helium balloon. The metallic reflections, shine, and textures of the plastic contrast with the organic richness of jungles, lagoons, and coral reefs.

Evyi the Zebra and the Kingfisher_Plastic Nature XI

Evyi, a black-and-white striped balloon zebra, walks through the savannah accompanied by a kingfisher with brilliant turquoise plumage. This 100x100cm work combines African wildlife with aquatic birds in an imagined ecosystem.

Evyi's stripes were carefully crafted to maintain the zebra's characteristic pattern but with the reflections of metallic plastic. The pure black and white contrast of the zebra intertwines with the vibrant colors of the kingfisher and the background vegetation.

I tried to achieve a sense of abundant vegetation in the savannah, utilizing the uncovered linen canvas in strategic areas. The composition creates an impossible encounter between animals from different ecosystems, united by their transformation into helium balloons.

Flamingos and the lagoon_ Plastic Nature I

Two pink balloon flamingos meet in a turquoise lagoon. This was the first work in the Plastic Nature series, the piece that started the whole reflection on plastic and ecosystems.

The flamingos have a metallic finish that captures and reflects light in changing ways. The water is glazed with blue and turquoise, creating transparency and movement. Aquatic plants frame the scene with touches of emerald green.

This 73x92cm work has been exhibited in galleries and fairs internationally. It represents the moment I decided to explore the visual paradox of something beautiful (the shiny balloons) symbolizing an urgent environmental issue.

Mako and the Coral Reef_Naturaliza Plastic X

Mako, a silver puffer shark, navigates among corals in this 130x70cm marine work. Mako sharks are one of the fastest sharks in the ocean, and that sense of movement is captured in the horizontal composition.

The elongated horizontal format reinforces the idea of movement and swimming. Mako is painted in metallic grays and whites that create the effect of shark skin transformed into shiny plastic. The corals in shades of coral, pink, and orange contrast with the blues of the background water.

This piece explores the coral reef ecosystem, one of the most threatened by ocean plastic. The shark, traditionally feared, appears here with a more playful and less threatening quality in its puffer version, inviting a different reflection on marine fauna.

Olivia and the Ensete _Plastic Nature IX

Olivia, a brown-spotted balloon giraffe with a golden-yellow body, stands next to an enset plant with giant leaves. This 80x200cm vertical work plays with the characteristic height of giraffes.

The elongated format was specifically chosen to accentuate the giraffe's verticality. The enset leaves, painted in deep greens with pronounced veins, create a perfect contrast with Olivia's warm yellow and orange tones. The vertical composition guides the eye from bottom to top, following the giraffe's neck.

I tried to achieve a sense of African vegetal abundance by keeping the background of the canvas uncovered and leaving the linen fabric visible.

Otto the Koala_Plastic Nature VII

Otto, a balloon koala with steel-gray fur, clings to a branch in this 70x70cm piece. Koalas are one of the animals most threatened by deforestation and climate change, making their representation in plastic especially significant.

The koala's fur is worked with touches of gray, white, and black that create visual texture without losing the characteristic finish and volume of the metallic plastic. Based on the anatomy of a real koala, light and shadow have been worked into a balloon. The lush background of vegetation and uncovered linen frame the animal with its elongated shapes in green and earth tones.

This work has a more restrained palette than others in the series, with a predominance of grays and greens that give it a more serene atmosphere. The medium-sized square format makes it perfect for more intimate spaces.

The Polar Bear and the Puffin: Plastic Nature VIII

A white puffer polar bear walks on ice alongside a puffin with an orange beak and black plumage. This 110x120cm work transports the viewer to the Arctic, one of the ecosystems most threatened by climate change and plastic pollution.

The polar bear was particularly challenging because it was white on white—the ice and the bear's fur. The metallic reflections of the plastic help differentiate the animal from its icy surroundings. The puffin adds touches of warm color with its bright orange beak, creating a visual contrast with the predominant whites and blues.

The ice blocks are painted with pale blues and grays that suggest cold and fragility. This piece has been exhibited in galleries and is part of the permanent collection of works reflecting on endangered ecosystems.

The Tiger and the Monkey_Plastic Nature III

🌱An orange and black striped balloon tiger rests in a lush tropical jungle, accompanied by a monkey and a lizard among the vegetation. This large-format 110x110cm painting is one of the most complex works in the series due to the attention to detail of the tiger's reflections and the abundance of natural elements.

This wild animal painting began with a study of real tigers and was later transformed into a helium balloon version. The tropical jungle leaves are rendered in different shades of green, creating depth in the jungle. Nature art merges here with a reflection on artificial materials.

I used the uncovered linen canvas in areas of the background to create a sense of lush vegetation. Perfect as a decorative painting for large spaces seeking an exotic decor with contemporary art.

The flamingo and the lagoon_Plastic nature V

Napoleon the panda bear, Eliza the bamboo rat, and Carlito the tarsier inhabit a bamboo forest where light filters through the green reeds. This large 110x120cm painting brings together three species of Asian wildlife in a meticulously painted bamboo ecosystem, perfect as a living room decoration piece with an Asian art theme.

The development of each exotic animal began with the study of real photographs before transforming them into balloons. The panda, with its characteristic two-tone pattern, was especially complex. The tarsier, with its enormous eyes, adds tenderness to this animal painting.

The bamboo is painted with vertical brushstrokes in different shades of green. This original work of contemporary art has been exhibited in international art galleries and fairs.
