I've been painting for years in the privacy of my studio, where each work is born after weeks of observation and experimentation. Now it's time to open those doors and share not only the final result, but also the journey leading up to it, through this artistic journal.

Who I am and why I create impossible worlds

I'm Sofía Cristina Jiménez, and my work navigates between the real and the impossible. From my studio in Madrid, I build universes where gravity is optional and logic is reinvented: animals floating suspended by helium, Gulliver women, tree queens, hummingbirds creating music, and a wind so strong it lifts stone wings.

My work transcends mere representation. On my canvases and papers, flying helium unicorns coexist with chess rooks, creating visual narratives where each element has its own meaning. Series like " Ascendants and Descendants " bestow aristocratic titles on everyday creatures, " Plastic Nature " presents helium animals floating in their natural spaces, and the watercolor prints in "Botanical Aquarium" transform delicate fish into flowers—because dignity knows no boundaries of species or kingdom.

Surrealism isn't just my technique; it's my language. Through it, I explore themes of transcendence, freedom, and the poetry hidden in the absurd. Each piece is a gateway to alternative worlds where the rules are rewritten and the impossible finds its place.

My work has traveled from Art Madrid to permanent collections, but the real magic happens when someone recognizes their own story in my creations, when they understand that they are not acquiring decoration, but rather claiming that universe as their own, a connection with the extraordinary that dwells in the ordinary.

Because in the end, we all carry a universe of helium inside us, waiting to rise.

What this artistic journal is about

Here you'll find the territory we inhabit between the technical and the poetic. I'll share:

The process behind the effect, the materials, the observation techniques, the mistakes that have taught me more than the successes.

The stories in each series: Why "Nobody Puts Baby in a Corner" was born from a need to challenge spaces. How each animal chooses its fictional corner where the rules of physics are rewritten.

The reality of professional art and its journey: From the packaging that protects my works during international shipments to the real difference between a fine art print and a commercial print.

What's coming

This space will be as varied as my creative process. Some posts will delve into specific techniques, while others will share reflections on international fairs or the conceptual evolution of a series.

I don't seek to teach formulas—every artist must find their own path. But I can share what I've discovered over the years, moving between the artisanal and the conceptual, between pictorial tradition and contemporary experimentation.

Join me on this journey

If you've made it this far, you probably recognize that authentic art requires time, reflection, and honesty. I invite you to be part of this dialogue.

Leave a comment telling me what interests you most: the technical aspects, the conceptual reflections, or the stories behind each work? Your curiosity will partly guide the course of these conversations.
